ABOUT John Boruk
I have collaborated with College Funding Solutions, Inc. to present high school students and their parents with a cost-efficient and streamlined approach to attaining excellent post-secondary education at the most favorable price.
After spending four years in various sales roles, I transitioned into my current position as a certified college advisor in the Delaware Valley. Prior to this, I enjoyed a successful 25-year career in sports broadcast journalism, during which I received 11 Emmy awards for my on-air contributions and numerous nominations.
I take great pleasure in assisting families to navigate the college planning process, ensuring students secure placements in their desired colleges at the most favorable cost. That passion was fueled by a mother who was a high school teacher and the Texas State Advisor for the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). After she passed away following her battle with cancer, our family established the Joan E. Boruk Memorial Scholarship to honor her memory.
My educational background includes a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism from Texas Tech University and studies in Russia and International Economics at Leningrad State University in St. Petersburg, Russia.
In addition to serving as a certified college advisor and financial consultant, I’m also founder/host/producer of the Raising a Champion podcast which focuses on the $20 billion industry of youth sports and how we can make it more inclusive for every young athlete.
Currently single with three wonderful children, I have a diverse range of interests including snow skiing, golf, pickleball, hockey, theater, and live music. Actively involved in the Greater Philadelphia community, I have served as emcee for events such as the Special Olympics of Pennsylvania, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the Walk for Williams Syndrome, and the Fight against Arteriovenous Malformations. Additionally, I have also served as the Master of Ceremonies for the World Selects Hockey Tournament.
I have contributed to research efforts with the National Institutes of Health (Clinical Brain Disorders Branch – Section of Integrative Neuroimaging), the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at the University of Louisville, and the Department of Cognitive Sciences at Johns Hopkins University.
In line with my belief that personal growth is an individual’s responsibility, I adhere to the philosophy that while others can support you, true progress comes from within.
