Description
The Barkely Forum Center for Debate Education, named after former United States vice president and Emory alumnus Alben W. Barkley, is the home of Emory's nationally ranked intercollegiate policy debate team. The Barkley Forum Center for Debate Education, in conjunction with the Emory Office of Admission, awards a merit scholarship to an incoming first-year Emory College student each year. To be considered, applicants must demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and debate excellence. The scholarship covers full tuition and fees. Finalists for the Debate Scholarship are also considered for and may be offered a Robert W. Woodruff 'Debate' Scholarship, which consists of full tuition, fees, and on-campus room, and board.

The George W. Jenkins Scholarship is a four-year scholarship awarded to first-year Emory students based on academic merit, financial need, and a sincere interest in service and enhancing community engagement. The Jenkins Scholarship is open only to U.S. citizens who are residents of Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, and Tennessee (all of which are home to Publix Super Markets), graduating from a high school within their home state, and enrolling full-time at Emory College.

The Martin Luther King, Jr. (MLK, Jr.) Scholarship is awarded to outstanding students from the Atlanta Public Schools (APS) who are accepted to Emory. Students who receive this scholarship demonstrate outstanding character through contributions to their communities, intellectual and personal vigor, high academic achievement, leadership qualities, and the potential to enrich the lives of their peers at Emory. All APS seniors, regardless of ethnicity, who are accepted into Emory University are considered for this scholarship award. The MLK. Jr. scholarship currently covers full tuition, fees, and on-campus room and board.
