Description
The James H. Porter Academic Scholarship began as a trust created in 1938 to benefit the education of Negro students in Georgia. It is administered by the Board of Regents of the State of Georgia. The Porter Trust provides scholarship support for the three historically black state universities in Georgia; Fort Valley State University, Albany State University, and Savannah State University. The amount allocated annually to each institution depends upon the performance of the Trust. Porter Scholarship funds will be used to complement the University?s academic scholarship program. Successful applicants will be offered awards ranging from $500 to $2500 towards tuition, fees, room, board, and books.
