Description
Incoming freshmen from rural Georgia with a 3.0 or higher high school GPA are eligible to apply for a Berner Scholarship and Loan. Preference is given to students from Troup and Meriwether counties. These merit-based scholarships are half-award and half-interest free loan, to be repaid upon graduation or disenrollment from Georgia State University. Awarded for eight semesters, the current award amount is $5,000/semester for eight semesters.

For incoming students only, whose residence is considered out-of-state for tuition purposes (including international students), Georgia State University may offer merit-based waivers of all or part of the out-of-state portion of tuition based on academic performance in high school for incoming freshmen, or based on college GPA for incoming transfer students with less than 90 credit hours. This scholarship allows students to pay in-state tuition rates instead of out of state tuition rates and it is not a tuition-free scholarship. The Goizueta Foundation Scholars Fund award at Georgia State is made possible by The Goizueta Foundation, established by Roberto C. Goizueta, the late CEO and chairman of the board of directors of The Coca-Cola Company. The scholarship is designed to increase the number of students of Hispanic/Latino origin who enroll and complete their undergraduate degrees at Georgia State and provide mentors, internships and community service experiences to these students so that they can become the leaders of the future.

Marcia Baker Carroll and Almand 'Bo' Carroll Scholarship is awarded to students who meet the following criteria: have applied to GSU prior to, or concurrent with, applying for this scholarship; have a minimum high school GPA of a 3.0; have demonstrated achievement in academic areas through achieving a minimum SAT 1 score of 1150 or minimum ACT composite score of 27; maintain full-time enrollment at GSU and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 during freshman and sophomore years, and 3.2 cumulative GPA during junior and senior years to remain eligible for the full award; and have demonstrated financial need.
