These awards are valued between $1,000 and $5,000 per year, and are renewable. Description

Peyton Anderson Scholarship recognizes young women of superb intellectual talent from the Middle Georgia area who are committed to teaching in the Middle Georgia area after graduation. One-fifth of the scholarship is a loan that will be forgiven at 20 percent a year for five years as the recipient teaches within Middle Georgia. Requirements: minimum 1170 SAT (combined math and critical reading) or 29 ACT composite, and 3.6 GPA, and a commitment to teach in Middle Georgia for five years.

Description

Students who wish to apply for an Art Scholarship should submit a portfolio consisting of 8 to 10 works. One of the pieces should be a portrait drawn from real life (not copied from a photo). Students are advised to present their best works rather than works in a wide variety of media. The work will be evaluated on the understanding of the creative process, handling of the medium, creativity, and presentation. In addition to the portfolio, the student should write a short artistic biography, which tells of the student?s interests and goals in art. Portfolio reviews last 30 minutes and include an interview with members of the Art Department faculty.

Description

Students who wish to audition for a Music Scholarship should prepare 2 memorized pieces in contrasting styles. Auditions are given for voice, piano, organ, and other instruments. We prefer selections from classical repertoire, but this may not always be possible. Students and their current teachers should choose pieces that present the student at her best. Each student will be asked to sight read a simple melody. The audition, which includes an interview with members of the Music Department faculty, lasts approximately 30 minutes.

Description

Valued between $1,000-$3,000 toward tuition at Wesleyan College, the Ryan's Hope Scholarship is renewable every year for four years (eight semesters) if the student remains in good standing and maintains a cumulative GPA of at least 2.50. To qualify for the Ryan's Hope Equestrian Scholarship, eligible high school seniors and transfer student candidates must have a high school GPA of 2.50, and meet our minimum test score requirements. Applicants are required to ride for the equestrian coach, either in person on by submitting a video, to determine if they will receive the scholarship and for what amount.

Description

Students who wish to audition for a Theatre Scholarship should bring a list of theatre related experience and have a teacher mail a letter of recommendation. Actors must prepare 1 or 2 memorized monologues of one or two minutes each. The monologues should be in contrasting styles. Students and their current teachers should choose pieces that present the student at her best. The director will work briefly with the student on selections of the monologue in order to assess her ability to take direction. The student who is interested exclusively in technical theatre may choose not to prepare an acting audition, but to submit a portfolio of materials demonstrating her talents and experiences in technical theatre.
