The Emporia Connection is the official alumni chapter designed to strengthen ties between African American alumni, current and prospective ESU students and the University. The group is comprised of six decades of alumni who live throughout the U.S. The Alumni Association had challenged chapters to create a ?legacy? ? therefore the Emporia Connection Scholarship was born. Merle Endly, whose family has a long history with Emporia State University dating back to early 1900s when ESU was Kansas State Normal School, established this scholarship to honor his sister Virginia Endly. The scholarship will be equal to current undergraduate in-state tuition and fees, the current Resident Hall fee (double room) including the full meal plan, and the current average cost of books for a full-time student in good academic standing. Recipients are eligible to reapply. Graduate and undergraduate students may apply. Current ESU students may submit an unofficial transcript from BuzzIn.

To be considered for the James Patterson Education Scholarship, an application and the corresponding materials (as outlined on the application) must be submitted as an email with the files titled to include your name to ttcdean@emporia.edu by midnight, Monday, June 23. Applicants selected as finalists will be notified and interviewed by the James Patterson Teacher Education Scholarship Selection Committee and eight recipients will be chosen.
