Description
The goal of the UMBC Cyber Scholars Program is to prepare the next generation of cybersecurity professionals in an increasingly digital age, with a focus on increasing the participation of women and other underrepresented groups in this fast-growing field.
The UMBC Cyber Scholars Program is directed by the UMBC Center for Cybersecurity and run in partnership with UMBC?s Center for Women in Technology (CWIT). The program began in Fall 2013 with a goal to support 15 to 20 scholars annually. Scholars are supported financially and incorporated into a scholarship community that includes special on-campus housing, unique courses, mentoring, and the chance to take part in cybersecurity research and internships early in their academic careers.

Description
UMBC offers a range of general merit scholarships to in-state, out-of-state and international students. Scholarships range from $1,000 to $22,000. General merit scholarships do not require separate application. Prospective incoming freshmen will automatically be reviewed for these awards provided timely applications for admission are filed. Freshmen candidates are reviewed based on high school programs (9th through 11th grade), individual grades, cumulative averages, and SAT or ACT scores. Award consideration is based upon a numerical standard and the competition of the applicant pool. Eligibility is based on credentials provided at the time of application for admission.
