Description
The Alumni Association annually awards more than $20,000 to select children and grandchildren of Southern Miss alumni. The Pierce Legacy Scholars Program, regional alumni scholarships and resident tuition rates are just a few ways the Association helps encourage and foster the family tradition of choosing Southern Miss. Additionally, the Alumni Association manages and awards scholarships to incoming freshmen through the Elmo Lang Memorial Scholarship and the Mary Loraine Peets Buffett Scholarship.

Honors College Achievement Awards - Students with a composite of 30 ACT or higher who have been offered admission to the Honors College will be allowed to compete for the Honors College Discovery Scholarship and the Honors College Presidential Scholarship. A select group of students participating in the competition will be awarded the Discovery Scholarship, which consists of the following:
Full tuition for four years (and a waiver of the nonresident fee, if applicable)
The cost of campus housing for the fall and spring semesters of freshman year
A one-time $5,000 scholarship toward the USM study-abroad program of the recipient's choice
A one-time $1,750 research grant designed to support Honors College thesis research

Honors College Presidential Scholarship
A select group of students participating in the Honors College Achievement Award competition will be awarded the Presidential Scholarship, which consists of the following:
Scholarship equivalent to the cost of tuition, campus housing, a meal plan for four years, plus a semester book stipend. Please note that recipients must live on campus during their freshman and sophomore years, and recipients who choose to move off campus during their junior and senior years will retain only the tuition and book stipend portions of this scholarship.
