Dr. Victoria Schmidt, a 1929 graduate of Harris Teachers College, was a professor at Harris-Stowe from 1949 until her retirement in 1978. The Dr. Victoria Schmidt Education Scholarship at HarrisStowe State University is to be award to a student that has declared education major. The scholarship, which is renewable, will go to a student who continuously maintains the required cumulative GPA.

Description

The Aline Lamar and Norton Shaw Memorial Scholarship is funded by an endowment fund. Mr. and Mrs. Horace Wilkins and his employer, Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, donated the funds to Harris-Stowe to establish a scholarship for academically talented students. The annual scholarship covers full-time in-state tuition, up to 16 credit hours, required textbooks and to the extent possible some incidentals.

Description

The Dr. Henry Givens, Jr. Scholarship was established to honor the work and legacy of Harris-Stowe?s longest-serving president, Dr. Henry Givens Jr., who held the position for more than 32 years before retiring in 2011. This scholarship is the result of numerous community leaders donating funds to the University?s foundation in the name of President Emeritus Givens. Two scholarships will be awarded per year and will be renewable if chosen students continue to meet the criteria. Each scholarship will cover full-time in-state tuition up to 16 credit hours and can also include room and board costs. Eligible candidates will meet the following requirements: hold a minimum 3.0 CGPA,
involvement in extracurricular activities, possess exemplary community service involvement, with a letter submitted as proof, as well as two additional letters of recommendation from either a school official or community leader.
