Description

APPLE Corps (Academic Preparation Program for Law Enforcement), a partnership between John Jay College of Criminal Justice, CUNY, and the New York Police Department, provides students with academic, professional, and financial support during their first two years of undergraduate study.

Eligibility:
Receive admission for the fall term as a first-time, first year student at John Jay College or a CUNY Justice Academy partner campus
Be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident, legally eligible to work in the United States
Be a resident of New York City
Enroll at John Jay College or CUNY Justice Academy partner campus as a full-time student and for the duration of their program of study
Prepare to complete all requirements for APPLE Corps, as well as their associate or bachelor degree program requirement
Submit the FASFA (Free Application for Student Financial Aid) and TAP (Tuition Assistance Program) applications in order to receive financial aid

Description

Undergraduate students pursing Computer Information Systems or Forensic Science are eligible to apply for a special scholarship opportunity. This program was made possible by the Department of Science and the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. Funding is provided by a grant from the National Science Foundation. Scholarships are based on financial need. The maximum award amount is $5,000 per academic year for freshmen and $7,500 each year after. Scholarships are renewable yearly, depending on academic performance, continued financial need, and availability of funds.

The Hecht Scholarship was established through a generous gift to the University from Imre and Vera Hecht. It is awarded to an entering freshman with a strong academic background, community or volunteer service, musical abilities, and financial need. The Justice Scholarship, one of John Jay College?s most prestigious awards, was established by Princeton University in 2002 in memory of the many John Jay educated law enforcement and fire department heroes who died in the September 11, 2001 attack on the World Trade Center.

This $2,000 annual scholarship is awarded to entering freshmen who are committed to academic excellence and to public service. The purpose of the Justice Scholarship Program is to develop undergraduate researchers, practitioners, and scholars in the areas of public service and criminal justice.
