Description

The Bonner Scholars Program is a four-year scholarship program that supports a strong team of students working to bring about positive community change through service, research, and action. All 80 participants in Davidson's Bonner Scholars program come together for weekly peer meetings and skill development, covering topics such as time management, conflict resolution, poverty reduction, and education reform. Each year a new class of 20 incoming students are accepted into the program.
Bonner Scholars complete 280 hours of service annually, which include skill building lessons and class meetings. They also complete two summers of service, a cornerstone project over the course of the four-year program, and have multiple opportunities for leadership.

Description

Incoming student who has demonstrated an interest and exceptional ability in German could be eligible to receive the Bremer German Scholarship. Established by C. Christopher Bremer '60, this $5,000 scholarship is awarded every four years to one student in the incoming class. Recipients are not required to major in German. The scholarship is renewable for the recipient's remaining three years at Davidson as long as the student maintains the required grade point average, makes expected progress toward graduation, and successfully completes at least one course in the German Department per year. In the junior and senior years, that course must be either offered through our Berlin program or a 400-level seminar course.

Davidson offers this $25,000 scholarship to one student in each entering class in recognition of that student's significant experience and demonstrated success in Latin; interest in Latin as a field of study; and outstanding general academic accomplishment. This award is renewable for each of the recipient's remaining three years at Davidson, providing GPA, progress toward degree, and Latin study (one course per academic year) requirements are met. Recipients are not required to major in Classical Languages and Literature nor minor in Latin.

The strength of student's application for admission is the deciding factor in receiving these scholarships. Financial need is not considered. The award was established by Patricia Cornwell '79, author of over 30 works, which have been translated into more than 20 languages and are consistently on best-seller lists. The Cornwell Scholarship is valued at $30,000 annually, and is offered to one student in each first-year class. The scholarship is renewable as long as you maintain the required grade point average, make expected progress toward your degree, and remain engaged in the writing community. Recipients are not required to major in English.
