The Abernathy scholarship is a four year $20,000 scholarship awarded each year to an outstanding high school senior with a demonstrated commitment to the study of and a career in science or math education.
The scholarship is modeled after the N.C. Teaching Fellows Scholarship and, as such, recipients will be expected to teach in a public, charter, or government school for four years following graduation. Individuals have up to seven years to complete this requirement. The Abernathy Scholarship is administered from the ECU NC Teaching Fellows office. Recipients will have a required on-campus living component for the freshmen year, a four year programmatic component, and specific criteria for receiving funds.
