Description
Each year first year applicants are selected to receive the Louise Shingleton Shivers Scholarship for English. A student must be a full time student with an interest in creative writing. These scholarships are renewable annually for a total of four years, subject to the recipient's remaining in good standing and maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.0 on all courses taken at Meredith College. Each recipient will be obligated to take one course in creative writing while she is at Meredith College.
To be considered for the Creative Writing Scholarship students must be admitted to the college by January 15th. The scholarship recipient is determined on the basis of scholarship and potential for success in creative writing. Applicants for Creative Writing scholarships must send a digital portfolio of 3 - 5 pieces of creative writing (maximum of 30 pages), including poetry, fiction, and/or creative nonfiction along with the completed application.
