Description

The Aaron and Elizabeth Silverman Scholarship Fund provides in-state tuition and fees scholarships to academically strong students. Scholastic achievement and graduation from an accredited North Carolina high school are the only criteria. The scholarship(s) can be awarded to a prospective student or to those students currently enrolled.

The Devereux H. Lippitt Scholarship is awarded annually to a North Carolina student based on academic achievement. This scholarship is intended to cover the in-state cost of tuition and fees and is given in memory of Devereux Haigh Lippitt by his family. This scholarship may be renewed; therefore, it may not be available every year.

Description

The Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant is a merit-based Federal Title IV program designed to encourage highly qualified teachers to serve in low-income schools in high-need fields. In exchange for TEACH Grant funding, recipients sign an Agreement to Serve with the federal government committing to:

- Serve as a full-time, highly qualified teacher* (see definition below) for at least 4 academic years within 8 years of completing the academic program
- Teach within certain high-need fields (Mathematics, Science, Special Education, and Reading Specialist). High-need fields are indicated for each state.
- Teach at an eligible school. Schools serving low-income students are indicated for each state.

Description

UNCW is able to award scholarships on the basis of merit to about half of the incoming honors students. Students accepted to both UNCW and the Honors College are automatically considered for competitive Honors College Merit Scholarships- no additional application is required for these scholarships. It is included in the Honors College application. About half of the incoming Honors Scholars are recognized with Honors merit scholarship awards. The awards may range from $500 a year to the equivalent of North Carolina tuition and fees. Most Honors Merit Scholarship awards are for about $1000, renewable for three additional years as long as students are in good standing in the Honors College.

Description

SOAR Ambassadors are carefully selected based on a review of high school academic achievement and standardized test score performance. This scholarship award is the equivalent of UNCW tuition and fees each year, with supplemental awards added towards, books, housing and meals during the sophomore, junior and senior years. SOAR Ambassadors receive the equivalent of in-state tuition and fees each academic year of eligibility.
