College of Charleston Merit Scholarships are merit-based financial awards offered to first-time entering freshmen who are US Citizens or legal permanent residents. Dollar amounts vary based on the current year's applicant pool and budget.

Students must have the admissions application and all supporting credentials on file in the admissions office by December 1 to be considered for the College of Charleston Merit Scholarship. Students will be notified of scholarship awards no later than March 15. The selection process is highly competitive due to the high number of qualified applicants and available funding. Students will be evaluated among their peers in the freshman applicant pool to determine scholarship eligibility. Students will be evaluated based on standardized test scores, high school GPA, and high school rank (for those schools that provide it).

Description

Thomas W. Carroll Scholarship in Computer Science are awarded to incoming freshman, who have indicated a desire to major in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Data Science, or Computing in the Arts. Student must demonstrate academic distinction in high school records and test scores. Renewable up to three years, if recipient maintains a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and their declared major remains a computer science degree.

Description

Upward Bound Scholarships are offered to two Charleston County residents who have participated in a TRIO program as designated by the US Department of Education and who possess strong academic records. U.S. Department of Education TRIO Programs prepare first-generation or underserved students to successfully enter and earn a degree at a four year college or university. The College of Charleston has hosted Upward Bound for over 35 years.
