Description

BBA Scholars are pre-selected for Cox admission based on their application for admission to SMU and academic performance prior to entering SMU. This program includes the top tier of business students. Fall 2016 BBA Scholars had an average SAT of 1460 (equivalent to a 1500 on new SAT), average ACT of 33 and very competitive grades in the most rigorous curriculum at their high school. Students are notified of their selection for the BBA Scholars Program shortly after receiving acceptance to SMU in their senior year of high school. As BBA Scholars, they participate in the normal SMU/Cox curriculum, but have the added advantages of Cox admission in the first year, Cox scholarships, early access to Cox Advising & Career Services, and special programs and events designed exclusively for Business Scholars.

The Hilltop Scholars Program (HSP) is offered to students who have high academic ability and have indicated leadership and community service qualities through their applications for admission to SMU. Hilltop Scholars are given the opportunity to join other first-year students who want to do well academically and take an active part in the larger university community. They enroll in writing courses together and have the opportunity to take other multi-disciplinary honors courses with smaller class sizes and greater access to one-on-one time with faculty members. The Meadows Scholars Program provides renewable scholarships to a group of 20-25 first-year students who have demonstrated high achievement in both the arts and academics, as well as the greatest potential for success. First-year students who have been admitted to SMU and indicate on their SMU admissions is awarded to that they plan to major in any of the performing, visual or communication arts disciplines within Meadows are considered for this award based on academic and artistic merit. Selection for this highly competitive scholarship is determined using SMU admissions is awarded to information. Artistic merit is also considered for accepted students based on their performing arts audition or visual arts portfolio review.
