ABOUT Yiao Hsia

I am a retired high-tech executive with excellent keen sense of numbers.  In-Depth Analysis is my specialty.  I have been helping college-bound students reduce their out-of-pocket college costs (including Parent PLUS loans) through appeal letters after reviewing the student's family financial data.  With the change in FAFSA metrics from EFC to SAI, it is even more important to understand the family income situation and the need for appeal letters to highlight the student's needs to the college financial aid office.  My services are very personalized and tailored for each student and his/her family situation.  There is no cookie-cutter approach.   I am also a fully licensed life/annuity agent in California with non-resident license in 6 other states.  I help families with young children (even newborns) with their college financial planning as well as help parents to plan their retirement through life or annuity products, depending on their age.

By education, I have received my BS, MS and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University.  I was the Valedictorian of my graduating class while receiving 7 of 8 awards from Columbia School of Engineering.  

Experienced working with teenagers based on my 9 years serving as the founder and Scoutmaster of Troop 130 Maynard MA.
